Today at the Frenchkiss Office we (meaning Syd, Phil, & Taylor…not Paul, who is vehemently against this entire operation) are attempting to send comedian David Cross pizza overseas. Apparently, two previous attempts have been made but were met with massive failure (wrong addresses, etc.). BUT – armed with two slices of white pizza & an airtight tupperware (Taylor’s idea)… we just might succeed. We’ll keep you posted.

Hey dudes!

CMJ is done and we’re all back to normal, not anymore exhausted or hungover than usual. I saw Sean Bones, Antlers, Atlas Sound, Broadcast, Local Natives, Hockey, Best Coast (U GO GIRL,) Fanfarlo… I think that’s it. Schmoozefest to the max.

Local Natives were practicing in a phonebooth before they played at Fontana’s. I went with the intentions to stay but I went to Pinkberry to meet a friend. I love harmonies ‘n stuff but I love pineapple+granola on original-flavored froyo more. AND I saw Spike Jonze, who is #2 on my Babes Over Forty list.

CMJ was fun. Can’t wait for next year. Goodbye, Hat!

now bear with me as this below is one of those youtubes you don’t really have to watch. i love how youtube is now also a depot of whatever song i want to hear but don’t want to find or buy. i’m cool with this, as a record label. ok

now, Nana Mouskouri, is someone you need to learn about. In the 60′s she was the swingingest, hottest Greek beatnik in the world. She invented the Chloe glasses, you know the ones girls named Chloe wear. Now she does Celine Deon kinda stuff but forget about now. Her band is tight, her pipes are lovely and playful. The piano tingles, and i think that’s a harmonica.

That’s from a movie called Never on Sunday. Please watch this movie. Melina Merkouri who played
” the prostitute that has no price” did the original singing in 1960. Here’s her version, much more steamy but a bit less vocal talent.

Back to that ill Nana, here she is without glasses. Still a fox with sensitive voice:

There is a version of her singing “Ruby, Don’t Take Your Love to Town” in French that is not on youtube yet. It’s the shoot. I have it on this pink import record that I bought for 1 dollar and wouldn’t sell for the world. Well, I might give it away to a girl who reminds me of Nana.
